1. WHAT IS IS?  A Survivor like contest where each week the lowest scoring team will be eliminated from the pool and all the players from that team will be dropped into waivers for the remaining teams to bid on the following week. It doesn’t matter if you score the most points in a given week, you just have to be the second worst team or better to survive. We will continue to lose one team each week until we have our CHAMPION!
  2. DRAFT: We will use a mock draft from fantasypros.com to draft all the teams. I’ll run it as late in the preseason as possible, usually right after the last pre-season game. Then, using a random predetermined order, players will take turns picking their starting teams. There will be no waivers prior to week 1 games so the players on your drafted team will have to be who you have to start in week 1.
  3. SITE USED: MyFantasyLeague.com.  They also have an app called “MFL Platinum”. It’s free and very helpful. Make sure you get the MFL Platinum version (black icon with red streak going through it).
  4. If you played last year you will already be registered for this league. Once you open the app it’ll ask you if you want to update to this years league. Pretty easy. On the website you’ll have to go into the 2023 version of the league which is called “Tim’s Guillotine League Season 5.”
  5. SEASON: Weeks 1 through Week 16 or 17 (depending on players in the league), when our winner will be crowned.
  6. TRADES: There are no trades! Well, you can trade your whole team in the preseason if you want. Otherwise, only waivers.
  7. FAAB WAIVERS:  The FAAB system for waivers means everyone will have to place blind bids on all locked players each night. The highest bids will win. Ties will be broken by waiver order (once you win a bid you move to the bottom). All teams will have $300 for FAAB (except for three, see below). This will have to last all year. This is what this league is all about. Managing your FAAB budget. Use it early to stay alive, or save it to have an advantage later.
  8. WAIVER TIME: Players will be locked after the start of the Sunday morning games and stay locked until waivers run on WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 10pm PACIFIC TIME. Make sure to get your picks in by then. Then waivers will run the rest of the nights at 10pm for all locked players (players dropped during the week are locked for one night). You can always bid from zero dollars to the max you have left on any one player. Players dropped will not be available until one night has passed.
  9. FREE AGENT PICKUPS: There will be no Free Agent Pickups this year unless Covid rules make it necessary. So make sure you win your bids!
  10. Note: Players dropped will have to go through the FAAB process for one night (the night after they are dropped) before they become free agents. That’s why you didn’t win them when you thought you should have. Just wait one more night.
  11. BONUS FAAB: The teams with the last three picks will start with extra FAAB to make up for their crappy draft spots.  10 extra for 16th place in the draft, 20 extra for 17th place, and 30 for 18th place.
  12. 2ND TO LAST BONUS FAAB: Each week the team that scores the 2nd worst score will get a bonus 5 FAAB dollars!
  13. TIES FOR LAST: If there is a tie for last, ties will be broken by “total bench points”.
  14. STARTING LINEUP: 1 TEAM QB, 2 RBS, 3 WR/TEs, 1 FLEX (RB/WR/TE), 1 DEF. As you can see TE’s don’t have to be started. But they will score 1 ppr while other positions will score .5 ppr. And TEs will get a 3 pt bonus once they hit 80 yards while RBs and WRs need to hit 100 yards.
  15. TEAM QB: You will roster and start Team QBs. That means you will get points for whoever plays QB for the team you started. So you won’t get crushed if the starting QB goes down in the 1st quarter. If you drafted “Kansas City Team QB” you have the rights to all the KC QBs. So no need to have backup QBs from the same team.
  16. BENCH/IR: Only 4 bench spots so if your player is hurt you’ll have to deal with it. That’s part of the challenge of this league.
  17. PAY UP TIME: I don’t want any money until after the season is over. Then I’d prefer you pay quickly. If I have to ask more than twice Jon will egg your house. So if you’re not planning on paying please send me your address.

Additional Rules for MAIN Guillotine League

  1. PLAYERS: 18 total.
  2. COST: $52 per player. Don’t pay until the end.
  3. PRIZES: $750 to the Winner. Also, the highest score in week 1 will get $10. Each week another $10 will be won if a team beats that previous high score mark. If it’s not beat we add $10 more to the pot each week until someone beats the mark. Any left over money from this will go to the 2nd place team. This ends after week 15.
  4. Whoever finished in 2nd place the previous season will have a “penalty” to start the season.
  5. There will probably be one more additional twist TBD. Last season we had Idols. This season we will have something different.
